Synopsis

Professor Roy Donnelly is the head of Duncan University’s astrophysics department. He lives a lonely sad existence of a widower who has buried himself in his work so he doesn’t have to deal with his solitary life. The professor’s assistant, Brad Lewis, is a bright young man that talks the Professor into helping him develop an advanced innovative camera. Brad takes the same technology that is used in the astrophysics lab to look at the blackest parts of the universe and develops it into a camera that sees into the darkest places on earth such as caves or mines to explore for mineral deposits or even to rescue people in cave-ins and mining accidents. Since the camera utilizes the low ultra-violet end of the light spectrum it is bestowed with the appropriate name of The Blue Viewer. On its initial field test at an old mine the two men of science discover that the camera is a great success because it can see everything in the pitch blackness of the mine’s shaft. But there is one unexpected discovery with their new invention that boggles the two scientists’ mind; the camera has detected what looks like the images of faint blue ghosts of long forgotten miners. Not believing the new device is actually able to see real ghosts they take the camera out for further study where they join a small team of three paranormal investigators know as the Specter Inspectors. This leads the professor and his assistant Brad to take the Blue Viewer into an old abandoned hospital where they discover a horrifying world of tortured and imprisoned ghosts who are fed upon by black creatures in the darkness. This sets the two men of science on an adventure into the unknown world of the paranormal in their effort to free the imprisoned ghosts.
