“Our uncle is a cross between John Muir and a Monkey Wrencher.”
This statement, made by one of the characters in the story, might better have gone unsaid.
It is hard to imagine the near future and what it will bring to our wonderful world.
Not all that long ago no one---correction, almost no one---would have suggested that we humans could have managed to soil our nest to the extent that we have; and today few can comprehend that but two or three generations hence, from the time you are sitting somewhere comfortable, perhaps in a coffee shop, maybe tucked into your warm bed reading these lines, the place we inhabit will have become an environment so hostile as to barely sustain life as we know it.
This is a story about that, or maybe not.
