Gene Yang began drawing comic books in the fifth grade. In 1997, he received the Xeric Grant, a prestigious comics industry grant, for "Gordon Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks," his first comics work as an adult. He has since written and drawn a number of titles, including "Duncan's Kingdom" (with art by Derek Kirk Kim) and "The Rosary Comic Book," He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his lovely wife, Theresa, and son, Kolbe, and teaches computer science at a Roman Catholic high school.

Sure, in this particular case the choice is whether to possibly destroy your friend just in case he is slowly becoming as evil as his father, but stripping away all of that you get a story of maturity and trust.

The inclusion of the Yu Dao chapter of Avatar Aang Fan Club was great because it reinforced everything that the fan club from the second chapter brought out of Aang already, but the extent to which this fan club chooses to go actually disturbs Aang and factors into his growing inner turmoil.
