I don't think this is quite as good as the later Beast Quest books in which Tom has golden armour to help him; they just seem to get better and better.

Synopsis

One boy's journey to help his village becomes a quest to save the kingdom. Features a fearsome new beast in every book! Floods. Starvation. Fear.
