BENEATH THE SURFACE is a science fiction/fantasy saga about two telepathic brothers who live in a future world in another solar system far from the destroyed Earth.

In book one, "The Lost Boy," Sean Archer carelessly abandons his two-year-old brother in the forest out of grief for the loss of their mother, who died during childbirth. He leaves Erren alone by an old oak tree and goes off hunting. The mysterious Queen of the Forest finds the sad, abandoned boy and upon witnessing horrific visions of his future, she steals him away into the peaceful Otherworld to protect him from it. When Sean returns and finds Erren gone, he becomes repentant and begins his noble quest to find his lost brother, unaware that his search is awakening his latent telepathic gift. Inevitably, he comes to realize that the longer he hunts, the more he doubts his sanity. The forest becomes haunted as the mystical Queen Elaya tries to stop him from taking her little boy.

I was born in York, north of Toronto, Canada. My parents were immigrants from Great Britain. My mother is Scottish, my father is English, but both have a strong Irish ancestry. I was conceived in Durham County, England, before my parents immigrated to Canada, so I have joked in the past that I was manufactured in England and exported to Canada. Of course, that is just the physical vehicle I am talking about. My Mum and Dad did not give birth to my soul, which is a great deal older than my Earthly vessel.I am a compulsive writer. When I am not writing my books, I am writing in my voluminous journals. I have over three dozen two-inch binders of journals and counting. One day, I will write my autobiographies and then you will see all the nightmares that inspired my Beneath the Surface saga. There is a reason why one of the main characters has the same first name as I do. Villains traumatised Erren Archer almost to death. They say, "Write what you know." Well, I know trauma. Being able to write about horrific events in a symbolic way is my form of therapy.

Grey Wolf moves from a broad description of this fictional universe to focus on the story of Erren Archer, a boy born on a spaceship bound for the planet Midgard, and his older brother Sean, both of whom have telepathic powers.
