Maya is tired of low-paying jobs waiting on the public and jumps at a new opportunity running errands for a mysterious man named Connor who finds information for those willing to pay for it. Chinese gangsters, Bosnian war criminals, computer scam artists: Connor’s clients are a shady lot, something that doesn’t bother Maya too much until she winds up helping Connor kill one of them. It’s bad enough that the victim’s associates come looking for revenge, but when Maya discovers that her secretive boss keeps a shelf full of crematory urns, she finds herself wondering about the fate of her predecessors and asking if her new job really is Better Than Starbucks.
