Synopsis

This edition is a complete revision of the earlier editions of this book, which appeared in 1978 and 1991. Birds of South Dakota attempts to integrate the available data on the occurrence of birds in South Dakota. Much of the data were extracted from the contributions to South Dakota Bird Notes, published by The South Dakota Omithologists' Union since 1949. Data are also supplemented by records contained in other journals and publications, and by unpublished records of competent observers. Readers are encouraged to provide records for future editions of this book by bringing their data to our attention.
