While experiencing things through the eyes of other characters is nice and all, I find it…discombobulating? Because why these additional POV’s are written in first person while Claire is still being told through third is just…odd to me

Synopsis

With its eclectic mix of vampire and human citizens, Morganville, Texas, has always been a risky place to call home. But with the invasion of the vampire’s deadliest enemy, Morganville isn’t just in danger—it’s dying…

Ever since the draug—mysterious creatures that prey on vampires—took over Morganville, the lives of student Claire Danvers and her friends have been thrown into turmoil. Most of the town’s residents have evacuated, but Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael have chosen to stay and fight.

Using the city’s water system to spread, the draug have rapidly multiplied. Things in Morganville look grim, especially since vampire Amelie—the town founder—has been infected by the master draug’s bite. Now, if Claire and her friends don’t figure out how to cure Amelie and defeat the draug, it looks like Morganville will become little more than a ghost town…

With numerous twists and turns and the thickening of the plot at the turn of the page the reader never gets lost, never fails to keep up and never tires of reading further and further on until one is left staring at the end and wanting badly the next book to know how the author has in mind for her heroes.

I had a hard time getting into Black Dawn...it was as if I had waited several months to pick up the story in the middle of the action and I felt disconnected.

In addition to too many POVs, the overall pace of BLACK DAWN is relentless, and unfortunately, that is not a compliment.

I was still utterly enthralled from start to finish. Rachel Caine hasn't once let me down in this series, as each installment only gets better as the stakes get higher. Full of danger, raw emotion, and heart pounding action, Black Dawn can't possibly disappoint!

it was another great book by Rachel Caine. I so love it when a book is a page turner, and this one was. I love it when I get so vested in the story that I don’t realize I can’t turn the pages fast enough until it sneaks up on me!!

While Black Dawn still didn't surpass Last Breath or Carpe Corpus as my favorite in the series, it is by far the best in plot. It brings everything to the front and makes the reader wonder what will happen now.
