Vesna Bartulovic was born in the little town of Banja Luka, Bosnia. During the war, she and her family escaped the ravaged town of Banja Luka on June 18, 1995 and made it to Vojnic, Croatia. Her family had heard there was an agency taking families with no fathers and with financial problems to the United States of America. Vesna, her mother, and her brother left Croatia on December 19, 1998, and traveled to the United States. The family had sponsors who taught her English so that she could find a job and help pay for rent. Vesna worked at a movie theater where she met her husband, Michael, of 10 years. Her husband is an active duty United States Marine and they have two beautiful children, Bryan and Helene. She currently lives in Jacksonville, NC, where she is a stay at home mom due to her wonderful husband who is deployed at a moment's notice to fight and protect the country he loves.
