On her way in the rain to her weekly babysitting job, Mary takes shelter at her small town long-distance bus station. Sitting on the bench is a solitary stranger, with a scar across his cheek and an intensity about him. Breaking the ice, he begins to talk to Mary, and asks her an unusual question about her dreams for the future. As an officer in a clandestine military unit, he is going to a far off war torn land, and has a gut feeling he may never return.
