Synopsis

Thanks to her family and friends, Brigitte Atherton is free from Roger Forrester, the felon who posed as a spiritual leader named Joseph Zacharias and seduced her into his cult. But while she escaped the bondage of his control, she is haunted by the fact that he eluded capture and is still at large.

As she enters a new year with her sister and parents, she bears the physical and emotional scars of his abuse. She also bears another consequence of their relationship: an unwanted pregnancy.

She battles the trauma of her victimization and struggles with what to do about the unborn child. And she soon discovers that she isn't the only Atherton woman whose past is filled with heartbreak.

Can Brigitte learn to trust again - to trust not only herself, but the men in her life? And will the man who scarred her so deeply be brought to justice?
