Synopsis

When the news of rich gold strikes in the Klondike reaches young friends Stanley Pearce and Marshall Bond, they decide to leave Seattle, where they are prospecting for mining opportunities. They soon join thousands of men who make the perilous journey over the dangerous Chilkoot and White passes and down rivers and lakes to seek their fortunes in the gold fields of Canada. Pearce and Bond eventually reach Dawson City, Canada, where they meet another young adventurer, Jack London. This captivating account of the Gold Rush era reads like fiction and is filled with fascinating historical documents, including Pearce’s and Bond’s correspondence and Pearce’s articles for a Denver newspaper. Period images also accompany the narrative, and the book includes an author’s note, timeline, and bibliography. Lovers of adventure novels such as Gary Paulsen's, Jack London's, and Jon Krakauer's will be riveted by this true story.
