" Circassian History relates the heroic struggle of the ancient Circassian nation with a unique language and distinctive culture. Although Circassians sought the friendship and protection of Russia since 1555, Russia unleashed colonial war against Circassia (1763–1864), pillaging Circassian villages by hundreds, killing their inhabitants, and settling Cossack stanitsas in Circassia. Finally, Russia crushed Circassia, evicted its population from their Motherland to Turkey, thus completing its planned genocide. As a result, 90 percent of Circassians now live scattered throughout the world and 10 percent at home, struggling to rebuild their nation and to preserve their unique language and culture in their homeland."
