Each analysis deals with Tzvetan Todorov theory about the dual narrative structure of crime fiction stories, the context and outstanding features as distinct examples of the evolving and dynamic crime fiction genre.

The book also contains an introduction to genre theory, background knowledge on the evolution of the genre and its conventions, and the reasons for its popularity.
This book is clearly written and makes complex ideas accessible. It is suitable reading for academics, the general public and senior secondary school students.
