Although there are some holes in the plot, this is an enjoyable addition to the Carpathian series. The dragon spirit and an erotic bonding ceremony involving a rare flower brings something new to the series while the addition of familiar characters provides a bit more depth.

Synopsis

Return to the “steamy and dreamy” (Publishers Weekly) world of Christine Feehan’s New York Times bestselling Carpathian novels as thundering passions signal a dark force on the horizon…

Buried alive for hundreds of years in a volcano in South America, Dax worries that he has become the abomination that every Carpathian male fears, a victim of the insidious evil that has crept relentlessly into his mind and body over the centuries. But Dax isn’t the only one emerging from the darkness…

His name is Mitro, and he once stood by the side of the prince of the Carpathian people. Now he is the epitome of malevolence, and perpetrator of one of the most shocking killing sprees known to man. No one escaped the bloodshed, including his lifemate, Arabejila.

Now, between Dax and Mitro, a violent game has begun—one that has marked Riley Parker, the last descendent of Arabejila, as the reward.

Christine Feehan - I live in the beautiful mountains of Lake County, California. I have always loved hiking, camping, rafting and being outdoors. I?ve also been involved in the martial arts for years - I hold a third degree black belt, instruct in a Korean karate system, and have taught self-defense. I am happily married to a romantic man who often inspires me with his thoughtfulness. We have a yours, mine, and ours family, claiming eleven children as our own. I have always written books, forcing my ten sisters to read every word, and now my daughters read and help me edit my manuscripts. It is fun to take all the research I have done on wild animals, raptors, vampires, weather, and volcanoes and put it together with romance.

I have come to love these crazy characters and really missed them in this book. So much so that it made me really disappointed in this installment to the story.

Dark Storm is forgettable, because I did not connect to the characters. Give me the intensity and emotion of Zacarias in Dark Predator, any day of the week.

I kept waiting to care, but I never did. The relationship was too easy. The external conflict was exactly the same as in every other Carpathian book.
