With disarming openness, Rodef tells the story of his encounter with a remarkable man. The sort of person he had been looking for all his life, while moving from country to country, but had never found, until he met Zakhariy in Northern California. Imbued with wry humor, the novel depicts Rodef's meetings with Zakhariy through unexpectedly moving, truth telling, duel-like dialogues. It is charming, enlightening and enjoyable to read.
