Gabby's affair with her husband's boss, Jake, has to stop. She tries to tell him, but Jake's allure is too strong and she finds herself back at the offices, tied to a chair. Jake calls her husband in to watch...
The phone buzzed, clattering on the table, and I felt a hot sweat engulf me as I saw the display telling me it was Jake.
I snatched it up and answered it before I could even rationalise what I was doing. My voice was croaky. "Hello..."
"Gabby. I missed you. Was there some problem?"
"No... sorry, Jake. I just..."
"You're all right?"
"Yeah, I'm all right."
"No accident? No sudden crisis?" His voice was deceptively light and concerned.
"No, no accident. I just thought... I couldn't... Darren read the letter and..."
"Darren. So? You just didn't turn up. I sat there waiting for you, Gabby. You didn't even let me know. I am upset."
He didn't sound upset. In fact, under the light tone, I could feel an air of threat. "I'm sorry," I blurted. "Are you still there?"
"No. Should I be? Are you worth waiting over an hour for, Gabby?"
Christ. I didn't know what to say. The man made me so flustered. "No, of course not. I really am sorry... I should have called."
"Yes, you should have. I want you to meet me. There, now."
"I can't. And you said you weren't there."
"I'm not. But I'm about to go back and when I get there, you'll be there, exactly as I told you in the letter. You're not going to let me down again, Gabby."
My head was whirling. I couldn't. I shouldn't. Yet the way he gave me orders was intoxicating. I wanted to obey him.
Perhaps I ought to go - out of politeness.
Yes, yes that was it. I'd go and end all this.
I was lying to myself, and I knew it.
"Okay Jake. I'll be there as soon as I can."
"Good." The call ended abruptly. I dashed upstairs, almost on autopilot, to change into a short skirt. But no underwear? I stared at the drawer of lacy articles.
If I was only going out of politeness... why was I now walking back down the stairs, dressed in a sexy short skirt and high heels, feeling the cool air kiss my nakedness below?
He had me dancing to his tune, and I couldn't get away.
