Dog Days is an amazing book from the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series... I would recommend this book for kids 8+ and it will make you laugh! This book is good to read if you like to laugh and see what is going on in the Heffley family.

Synopsis

It’s summer vacation, the weather’s great, and all the kids are having fun outside. So where’s Greg Heffley? Inside his house, playing video games with the shades drawn.

Greg, a self-confessed “indoor person,” is living out his ultimate summer fantasy: no responsibilities and no rules. But Greg’s mom has a different vision for an ideal summer . . . one packed with outdoor activities and “family togetherness.”

Whose vision will win out? Or will a new addition to the Heffley family change everything?

The book is hugely funny and a great page-turner. You just know that in the next page Greg's going to have an unfortunate event, like when Rodrick tricks him into going off the high platform into the swimming pool. The print is especially funny because it gives you the perspective of a 13-year-old's writing.

Aimed at 9- to 12-year-olds, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is a fun and easy-to-read book about a "real" (read "imperfect") kid. Its laugh-out-loud moments will also tickle the funny bones of adults, who will recognize themselves as well as their children in these universal and engaging stories.

Known to millions as the yellow one it'll be known as a favourite to many too. It hides its morals and life lessons very subtly behind a very accessible sense of humour and a very accessible format - someone buying for the reluctant reader may also relish that thought.

Hilarious doesn't even come close to describing this account of Greg's summer break which is written as a diary and wittily illustrated in comic strip style.

Kids will relate to the typical teen issues in this this funny, light read. Greg is forever choosing the easy way out, and when these choices backfire, he begrudgingly learns that it pays to do it right the first time.

In a nutshell, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is a fun book for middle grade readers, and even grownups will get a laugh out of it. In fact, I’ve borrowed the other three books from The Girl, and I hope to read them when I’m in the mood for some light reading.
