Set in modern day Israel, The Last Diary chronicles the physical and emotional struggles a mother undergoes in her battle to keep her young children alive during the first two weeks following a massive thermonuclear attack. From the first civil defense warnings and the dark hours after the unthinkable explosions hit, shattering her home and world forever, this first person journal not only recounts in chilling detail the aberrant emotions, the small acts of courage and cowardice, and the hopes and desperation the woman experiences during her ordeal, but also explores from the viewpoint of an ordinary Israeli citizen the secret political machinations that might have led to this ultimate solution to the Palestinian problem. The second offering, Sorrowful Joe, recounts the strange happenings in a big city soup kitchen when a pitifully deformed man inadvertently plays havoc with the social order, then turns out to be much more than he appears.
