Noël’s prose is direct and easy to follow, and the world as seen through the eyes of Ever is an interesting place. In all, I thought this was an above-average read from the YA paranormal section.

Synopsis

Don't miss Evermore, the first book in Alyson Noël's #1 New York Times bestselling The Immortals series. Enter an enchanting new world where true love never dies. . .

After a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom can see people's auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone's entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste.

Damen is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head—wielding a magic so intense, it's as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is—or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

The plot itself did not have just one story line but many...Every single little plot line was important, with all of them coming together. Alyson Noel's style of writing was also very easy to follow...I found this book to be quite enjoyable and I can not wait to pick up the second book to continue Ever's journey!

Trying to adjust in a new high school after losing your family is hard enough, try doing it when you can hear everyone’s thoughts, see their auras and see the kinds of things where eyesight isn’t required and have regular visits with your dead little sister.

Evermore is an okay read. It wasn't terrible, and I'm not clamouring for the few hours it took me to read it back, but then, but mostly it just left me with an urge to go and re-read Twilight.

Ms. Noel writes an emotional, thoughtful book about loss as well as falling in love. I will admit that I cried in a couple of places. This was a really easy novel to get sucked into. Every time I had to put it down, I wanted to get back to it as soon as possible.

This book is a great romantic fantasy and is recommended for readers who like to read and love romantic fantasies. Evermore has a point of view similar to Catalyst by Laurie Halls Anderson...Evermore is a suspense filled chiller that is also similar to Evermore’s sequel, Blue Moon. Although this book is interesting in its concept, it’s still the typical story about a beautiful girl (Ever) falling in love with the mysterious good looking bloke (Damen) who joins her school. I found that most of the supporting cast were not fully rounded characters...

Author Alyson Noel does a great job drawing readers into EVERMORE...However, audiences will grow tired of the constant, incessant references to how hot Damen looks all the time...And the novel's end reveal is a hard swallow...It feels like a bit of a letdown after what had been an interesting journey.

Truth be told the girl meets supernatural boy plot is the novel’s least interesting and most played out aspect...If you’re the type that enjoys paranormal romance and couldn’t stomach Twilight I think Evermore might be an entirely more worthwhile endeavor. Take that for what it’s worth.

If you ask me, I would say this is a coming-of-age story about Ever, and how she overcome her guilt and accept being herself...Secondary characters like Haven and Miles...are entertaining and offer some laughter (or thrill) to the story. Overall, I really enjoyed reading Evermore and find it to be quite addictive.

A couple of the characters are huge strong points in and of themselves. Unfortunately our heroine, Ever, isn’t one of them...I haven’t committed to owning any of these books, but I like them when they’re in my hands (and not being thrown across the room). So I think they’re good. Not amazing, but interesting.

Plot wise, it feels a little bit like the author tried to build up the mystery behind Damen and Ever's situation too much...But I think what made up for that was the chemistry between Ever and Damen...I will give this book a chance because there's definitely a lot more room for growth, character wise and plot wise.
