Rita Weiss is an author, designer, and teacher whose name has become a household word in the fields of knitting, crochet, quilting, and cross stitch. The author of more than 50 books in the needle arts, she is co-owner of the Creative Partners needlework book production team. Rita previously was executive vice president of the American School of Needlework and founder and head of the Dover needlework division. A member of the executive board of the Craft Yarn Council, she has served as president of the Crochet Guild of America and the International Quilting Association. Leinhauser was trained as a journalist and began her professional needlework career as a design director for the Boye Needle Co. She left Boye to found Leisure Arts. Later she founded the American School of Needlework publishing company.
