The purpose of this book is not to give the reader a step-by-step guide to obliterate fear. Instead, Fear Into Fuel: Empower the Ageless Fighter Within delves deeper into the physical and emotional foundation from which success is derived. By using boxing as a metaphor for life, famed boxing trainer Michael Onello discusses the importance of balanced physical and mental discipline, their connection, and how their unification is required for success. Throughout the book, he touches on difficult issues, including jealousy, anger, violence, and respect, and how the lack of, or ignorance of, these emotions can lead to self-destructive behaviors with an underlying root of fear. He uses the training a boxer must go through to examine all of these difficult issues in expressing facets of human nature. Michael considers age as no boundary, enabling fighters to become the best they can be in any given circumstances and to discover along the way that they are not just fighters in the ring but in life as well. Through the framework of a boxer’s training, Fear Into Fuel enables readers to relate its message with their personal circumstances in the hope that through introspection, readers can learn more about themselves. Fear Into Fuel provides a blueprint for how one can have a stronger foundation from which to build healthy habits that nurture both mental and physical fortitude. As a mainstay in the San Francisco community, Michael has been teaching not only boxing but also the lifestyle that is required to become successful in whatever goals that an individual sets. From decades of experience with students, he has distilled the essence of success into this book, Fear Into Fuel: Empower the Ageless Fighter Within.
