Winer was born in South Africa and taught there and worked at a teacher training college before moving to Australia. Specializing in Early Childhood Development, she taught and lectured in a number of schools and universities and was, until her recent retirement, the Head of the Early Childhood Development Unit at the University of Southern Queensland. Oliver is a highly accomplished wildlife artist who has illustrated several best-selling children's picture books. He teaches illustration at the University of Western Sydney.
