Synopsis

Use popular fantasy literature to connect your students to classic tales. This book contains 12 chapters, each focusing on the plot, setting or characters in a specific piece of fantasy literature. Chapters consist of a synopsis of the featured book, a list of connection titles, two lessons (30-45 minutes each) and objectives that correspond to most curriculum content standards. Chapter titles include: Character Creation (Dragon Rider), which connects to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Frankenstein, and Invisible Man. To the Rescue (The Tale of Despereaux), which connects to Charlotte's Web and Johnny Tremain; and Sea Stories (Peter and the Starcatcher), which connects to Moby Dick and Treasure Island.
