The little witch, Marceline, wonders why the adult witches are collecting pumpkins one crisp, autumn day. She senses that something is afoot, but she isn't sure what all the commotion is about. "It's Halloween!" they tell her. Hallo-what?

Marceline's grandmother explains to the little witch what Halloween is, why we dress up, where jack-o'-lanterns come from, and how to trick or treat. Now Marceline and her little witch friends are ready to join in some real Halloween fun!

Desmoinaux (Mrs. Hen's Big Surprise), who illustrates in a peppy cartoon style, makes noticeable omissions (e.g., Grandma sends Marceline trick-or-treating without explaining the "trick" part).
