Dr. Art Brownstein is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a diplomat of the American Board of Preventive Medicine, & the only American physician ever to receive a diploma in yogic education from the government of India. His own back pain, first experienced in medical school, worsened over 15 years until as a flight surgeon in the Air Force he underwent back surgery that left him in excruciating pain & hooked on painkillers. His own search for solutions led him to develop the phenomenally successful Back to Life program that has transformed his own life & the lives of thousands of his patients. Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. is co-founder and former director of the Mind/Body Clinic, New England Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She holds a doctorate in anatomy and cellular biology from Harvard Medical School and is one of the pioneers of the new medical synthesis called psychoneuroimmunology.
