Tentacles slithered in past the doors, encircling Holly's ankle. She screamed again, as more crept in, wrapping around her waist and pulling her out of the lift.

This time, it was the right species. Its dark eyes were solemn above the dangling face-tentacles, and it emitted a purring noise as it drew Holly closer to its body.

"Let me go! Let me go, let me go!"

"Holly, please. No one is going to hurt you."

Nothing Sian said could calm her down. Holly squirmed and wriggled, but the alien was heedless of her cries. It waited patiently until she'd tired herself out, stroking her hair as her limp body hung from its grasp.

Sian walked over, and placed her hand on Holly's shoulder. "Do you remember what I said before? About the medicine? You're due for another shot."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

Sian and the alien exchanged looks. "Holly, it's an organic substance. You'll get the most benefit when you receive it direct from the source."

"From the--source?"

As Holly watched, blue fluid trickled from the tip of one of the tentacles. Her cheeks flushed at the mere sight of it. All she could think about was the way it had made her feel: peaceful, happy.

She needed that feeling again. Whatever it took, she needed it.
