The story is at turns funny, romantic, and sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed it. While this is a story set in a small town, it’s not really a small town romance. It’s an engaging character study of two imperfect people falling in love.

Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood's Perfect Husband is now Hollywood's Sexiest Bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there's a new bad boy in town.

Summer Jenkins. That's me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplins, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and have been ignored by our town for four years.

We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn't have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him.

From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me.

Sometimes, opposites just aren't meant to attract.

The worldbuilding is also really excellent, you'll feel like you're in small-town Quincy, dealing with the gossip and the summertime heat. You'll laugh, you'll tear up, you'll pant a little. Read it.

The supporting characters are great as well. Ben, the location scout is adorable and the town itself plays a big role. This is my first time reading this author and I liked her voice a lot.

Anyway, if you enjoy contemporary romance, this is a MUST READ!!! It’s got all that southern charm, but with very “today” characters. And even if it’s not your thing right now (I know many are paranormal and fantasy fans) this is one of the best (at least so far).

She stands up to him, pushes back and makes him wait. Sort of. Anyways, I loved Summer and in the end Cole wasn’t so bad himself. Because seriously, any man that can love and care for a chicken as much as Cole can’t really be that much of an asshole.
