Essie Reis has a BA from the University of Toronto, specializing in Sociology and Psychology. She has worked extensively as a lesbian activist and LGBT counselor; chaired numerous gay and lesbian committees, co-founded a lesbian and gay multicultural association and has facilitated a number of 'coming out' groups. Most recently she has been a co-founder of Lesbians Today, websites providing information on parenting, family, relationships, coming out, healthy living, entertainment, travel and events. It is home to the original comic strip Among Amigos and the weekly column, Hot Date Nights.Essie currently lives with her partner and son near London, Ontario.
