Synopsis

Part mystery, part parody, Humbug on the Hudson is the first Harry Reese short story. In August 1900, Harry is sent upstate to Glens Falls, where he's to help investigate a major fire. But he has a second mission: to make sure the investigation doesn't uncover any shady doings that "the right people" would prefer kept quiet. Harry encounters a variety of surprises, not the least of which involves his wife, Emmie. But that the chief arson suspect is found dead in a canal comes as no surprise at all.
