Honey Maloo, a bee who lives with her mother in the knot of an oak tree, is getting to be a big bug and she’s finally old enough to attend school. Honey, however, has different plans: She would much rather stay at home with her mother, who she loves dearly, so she tries every trick in the book to stay off the school bus.
With a bit of tough love and a guiding hand from her mother and the kindness of Ms. Petal, her schoolteacher, Honey is finally convinced to go to class and realizes that school can be fun and interesting, and that her mom will be waiting happily for her when she gets home.

Nancy J. Pando, L.I.S.C.W., a licensed social worker has a private psychotherapy practice specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents. As a Regis College faculty member, she spearheaded "Survival Guides." a project in which fifth and seventh graders wrote advice books for younger children. A guardian ad litem in the Norfolk and Plymouth County. Massachusetts court systems, she is also the author of Foster Bug and "Tapestries," a long-running column in the Canton Citizen. She lives with her husband and three children in Canton, Massachusetts, outside of Boston. Illustrator Kathy Voerg is a graduate of the Pratt Institute. She lives in New Jersey.
