A marvelously chilling and beautifully written series, set in a post-apocalyptic world that lives and breathes. Howey does a magnificent job of bringing the Silo to life...
Townsend has crafted a compelling and intricate story that masterfully explores culture, love and relationships with haunting beauty and keen perception.
"Real" does not read like a debut author wrote it at all. It’s very well edited, and professionally presented. Real was a wonderfully angsty, well written “mature new-adult” book.
...a story that can break your heart and uplift it all at once. The main characters are beautifully-crafted - fully-realized, living, imperfect but beautiful human beings.
The pace of the story and strength of the plot was flawless. I found myself worrying deeply for Travis and unable to put this book down.
"Meehl’s easily accessible writing style contains plenty of winning humor. That, along with light-hearted sexual innuendo makes for an amusing read. Overall, Meehl has delivered an entertaining YA story, one that will hold particular appeal for teenage males."
"Equal parts post-apocalyptic and dystopian fiction, Houghton’s mind-blowing epic tale of humankind’s struggle to survive in a critically overpopulated world stripped of all its resources is nothing short of a science fiction masterwork."
"The story’s end has a twist that’s sure to raise a final goosebump. With some editing and ample illustrations, it could prove to be an exciting read for young zombie lovers."
"Stunning. Awe-inspiring. Revolutionary. Superlatives can’t aptly describe the immersive experience of reading Aaron Safronoff’s lavishly illustrated fantasy fable for the first time... this mesmeric fusion of Ursula K. Le Guin and James Cameron will entertain readers young and old and leave them wanting more. It’s an instant fantasy classic."
"With a straightforward narrative style tailored for young readers, Gaur handles this ambitious mix of elements with consistent skill. Descriptions of modern-day Kashmir blend well with Tarun’s interactions with Ganesha and his voyage through the Veiled Lands. Ganesha’s Temple never gets bogged down by the weight of its own considerable goals."
"Harnisch has indicated that he writes only when sleepless and symptomatic. As a result, his demons are often evident."
"The unending cast of townies, low-lifes and grifters may be dizzying to readers jumping on this series train mid-stream, although fans of world-builders such as the late Robert B. Parker may be unfazed. "
"A fast-paced WWII historical novel that dramatically illustrates how war can transform ordinary citizens into heroes and villains alike. Ultimately, the novel explores human endurance in wartime, and well-crafted descriptions
"Komar uses workplace bullying as the catalyst for a fast-paced, surprising thriller. The choice to have head bully Arana Skudlarick narrate several chapters is one of the novel’s few missteps. Overall, Jobmobbers deftly combines a page-turning thriller with a provocative topic that should be discussed more openly."
"The novel is aimed at the young adult market and the type of older supernatural romance readers who embraced the Twilight franchise (from which many ideas are borrowed). Lively language makes this an easy read, despite the length, and most story threads tie together satisfactorily — although some unanswered questions leave an uneasy feeling..."
"By turning conventions of contemporary romance on its stilettos and swapping out the typical sassy, fashion-obsessed female protagonist for an autistic male who reads jokes from index cards, Wolf puts a fresh spin on the genre..A sweet and entertaining romantic comedy."
"When a vicious hacker releases a virus, cop Jake Kepler embarks on a fast-paced mission to stop the cyber-villain before humanity is deleted..Fans of thoroughly conceptualized apocalyptic worlds and breathless action may be willing to forgive the shortcomings in characterization. If so, they will enjoy this ambitious cyber thriller."
"Though imaginatively conceived and designed, the text includes distracting inconsistencies. Aoleon and other Martians sometimes speak without contractions; other times they use contractions and American slang. Despite these inconsistencies, Aoleon The Martian Girl offers fresh and funny entertainment."
"..In a genre where true originality is increasingly hard to find, Kobasic has written a singularly unique paranormal fantasy with singularly unique characters. Grand-scale storytelling with an intimate feel, — this series truly is, as the author notes, 'the most twisted love story ever told.' Irresistibly so."
"Imagine if clothing maintained the energy of those who wore it, and that energy could be transferred to someone else wearing the garment. That’s the premise behind this highly readable novel about love, sex, Hollywood, and transference...The story should delight classic movie fans and those seeking a magical realism mystery set in Hollywood."
