Patricia Wentworth is the pseudonym for Dora Amy Elles, who was born in India on November 10, 1878. Under the Wentworth name, Elles wrote historical romances and mysteries. Many of the mysteries featured Miss Maude Silver, and these books are considered by some to rival the works of Agatha Christie. She died on January 28, 1961.
