After twenty years, Spence drives back into his hometown of Lacene Arizona for his best friend's wake. But his parents were victims of an unsolved double homicide when he was sixteen, and new evidence shows up after he arrives in town.

The more he looks into the murders, the more trouble comes his way. Ghostly, bizarre happenings occur, as telepaths and researchers are called. Strange feelings creep over Spence. Will it change him forever? Will he solve the crime? And he has to ask himself whether he believes in the word of God...or Satan. Did it begin with him...or end with him? Things are deadly wrong in Lacene. Time will tell.

They all were vying for the town: the church, the faithful, the agnostics, the teenagers, the telepaths, the detectives, the sheriffs, the murderers, the Indians, and the devils and demons. They all wanted to be Lacene Lords.
