This is a typical Koontz book. A great read, definitely, and imaginative, but not as groundbreaking as some of his later books will be.

Originally published in 1988, "Lightning" is undeniably one of Koontz's best novels. In fact, the story is so gripping that it was recently re-released in 2003, including a new afterword written by Koontz himself.
