In every dark forest there is light, sometimes offering hope, sometimes portending evil. For Shainie Garrison there is the mysterious light at Ghostly Point. For self-serving Larry in Crazy 7s there are the flashing lights at a cottage country casino. In Sniffy, the lights of a Christmas tree radiate some hope for a desperate north country community.
Lights in Dark Forests is about inexplicable happenings in bush country, fictional to be sure, but not beyond reality for those who truly know the soul of the deep forest. It is a book that should be on every cottage porch and around every evening campfire.
Two of these stories – Sniffy and The Cabin at Ghostly Point – won Canadian Authors’ Association awards for short fiction.
