When Juni Little uncovers the mystery behind a sudden outbreak of violent killings on the outskirts of his home town, he must convince the authorities of the danger lurking in the woods, all while the true threat walks among those he trusts the most.

Juni Little, a young man on the verge of adulthood, quickly becomes intertwined in the mystery of a ferocious creature stirring up fear among the residents of Gatlinburg, a quaint tourist spot nestled against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains in eastern Tennessee. First thought to be a series of mischievous acts by a few misguided teenagers, the mutilation of a few deer and livestock become a secondary concern of the Sevier County Sheriff when the list of victims expands to include the son of one of his constituents. Juni finds himself at the center of the controversy as the truth unfolds about the dangerous creature roaming the acres of dense woodlands surrounding the small town. As he tries to cast a light on the true nature of the beast the circle of people he trusts begins to fall apart, besieged by an unknown enemy fighting to keep the secret of the beast buried along with anyone who gets too close to the truth.
