Written by John C. Walter, this book recounts his military experiences during World War II from his 1942 enlistment in the United States Army Air Force as an Aviation Cadet to service as pilot-in-command of a B-17 Flying Fortress with the 95th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force in Europe. After graduation from the University of Southern California School of Engineering, he joined Cummins Engine Company. During his career with Cummins, he wrote a number of technical papers which were published both in the U.S. and England. For a number of years he was Chairman of Cummins Technical Publication Policy Committee.
