Synopsis

Microbiology and Biotechnology for Sustainable Development contains two sections. Section A contains informative and thought provoking articles by leading scientists who have contributed immensely in their field of research. Section B includes research articles covering various aspects of research in the field of microbiology and biotechnology. It contains articles on the challenging issues and information on existing microbial biodiversity and its preservation, biofertilizers, biopesticides, toxic metabolites in higher fungi, environmental pollutants and the role of microorganisms in bioprocessing of solid waste and environmental clean up. In addition, it contains full chapters on some aspects of medicine and human health, enzymes of industrial importance, secondary metabolites of higher fungi and problems of food contamination. The volume will be useful to scientists, research and extension workers, teachers and students of microbiology and biotechnology. This will also serve as a catalyst in stimulating our scientific community to think and solve the challenging problems for sustainability.
