Synopsis

Early orphaned, now grown to maturity, lovely redhead Letty Hammond’s need for family ties leads her far afield from her simple beginnings in the tiny village of Marlingham on the Cornish Coast of England in the 1890’s.

An astounding invitation has arrived from America…one she cannot possibly refuse, for it may help in her proposed search for long lost siblings: her supposedly identical twin Bethany; and also their older brother, Gregory.

A circuitous trail takes Letty in and out of many strange and even dangerous adventures…not only in England but in the New World, where she visits New York in an effort to follow clues that lead back and forth across the Atlantic…first as a penniless orphan, then, suddenly, as a wealthy heiress.

Mystery and intrigue, deceit and danger, unwarranted hatred and obsessive love, success and failure, even murder and madness dog her heels as she runs from a past that never existed toward a life she hopes to claim as her own.

Richly populated with a cast of intriguing characters, both strong and weak, rich and poor, loathsome and loveable, the author has drawn upon her unique knowledge of human nature to portray a panoramic picture of Letty’s action-filled world.

Letty’s story seems suitable for not only adult, but also for more sophisticated young adult readers.
