Synopsis

"TO A DARK-EYED LADY
I long to be one with your deep, dark eyes
To live in paradise while still on earth,
And witness the hand of spring giving birth
To the buds of your love which gild the skies;
I long to touch you beneath the lindens,
At night, when the breezes weave your tresses,
And gaze into your soul in glowing dens;
I pine to see you in flowing dresses.
To kiss your lips in majestic enclaves,
Where heathers sigh beneath the azure sky,
I will give you roses from oceans’ waves;
Every tear you shed I will surely dry,
To fill you with joy beyond all telling,
And bathe your heart in a raptured dwelling."
