Modified Soul is a book of my personal journey in life. It is a collection of poems that represents my experiences in and my viewpoints about life. My hopes for the reader is that they read this book and rejoice in all their blessings that life has given them. I want them to feel that there is light at the end of the tunnel, even if they feel like life has dealt them a "bad" hand. Modified Soul is a collection of poems that addresses pain, beauty, wisdom, love, invincibility and despair. It is a book that invites you to reminisce on your own soul's transformation and your courage to accept you just the way you are.

Temika Breckenridge is a Chicago Native who grew up with a love of the spoken word and always knew she wanted to write.  In grade school she was asked to write a poem for Teacher's Appreciation Day, that was received so well she decided she couldn't stop writing.  As a teenager she became a youth reporter for the Chicago Defender and also had a growing interest in theater.  She pursued an English degree at Roosevelt University and other colleges hoping that this degree would satiate her desire to write and compliment her business persona.  In 1994, she married her childhood sweetheart and is now residing in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Although,   she briefly put her dreams aside to devote her time to her children and husband, she never stopped aspiring.  She has published two poems prior to this collection, and hopes to one day complete a novel.  Modified Soul is her personal journey in life,  a dream come true and a rebirth of an intricate soul.
