ABOUT THE AUTHOR



The author of 18 novels, Paul Levine won the John D. MacDonald fiction award and was nominated for the Edgar, Macavity, International Thriller, and James Thurber prizes. A former trial lawyer, he also wrote more than 20 episodes of the CBS military drama “JAG.” The critically acclaimed and bestselling “Mortal Sin” was his fourth novel. Author Paul Levine graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from Penn State University and with a law degree from the University of Miami. Before becoming a full-time author, he worked as a newspaper reporter for the Miami Herald and was a trial lawyer and eventual partner at Morgan, Lewis and Bockius. He writes the Jake Lassiter series and the Solomon vs. Lord series. He won the John D. MacDonald Award for fiction for the Jake Lassiter series. He is also a screenwriter. He co-created and co-executive produced the television series First Monday and wrote more than 20 episodes for the television series JAG.

It is not totally clear, then, whether it is guilt or lust that drives Jake to want to try and set things right after he becomes convinced that the negligence charges that he helped Nicky Florio beat should probably have been for homicide.
