Whenever Jule Ann goes outside, a Mud Puddle jumps on her and gets her muddy all over. But she defeats it with cheerful ingenuity and two bars of smelly yellow soap. As in all Munsch stories, kids are the heroes!

Robert Munsch was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 11, 1945. He received an undergraduate degree in history and a master's degree in anthropology. While studying to be a Jesuit priest, he worked part-time at an orphanage. He decided he liked working with children and left the Jesuits after 7 years to work in a daycare center. He studied for a year at the Elliot Pearson School of Child Studies at Tufts University. He ended up at a lab preschool at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario and eventually became a Canadian citizen. While working at a daycare center and telling stories to children, he realized that storytelling was what he loved to do and eventually he started writing the stories down. His first published title was Mud Puddle. His other works include Love You Forever, Angela's Airplane, Andrew's Loose Tooth, Stephanie's Ponytail, and Moira's Birthday. He continues to visit schools, libraries and daycares telling stories for free. Sami Suomalainen won a national art competition for children at the age of six in his native Finland. He has since turned his passion into a career, illustrating several children's books, including Robert Munsch's Mud Puddle and The Dark (Annick Press). A longtime admirer of Wordsworth's work, Sami was thrilled to translate this poem into pictures. He lives with his wife and two cats in Toronto, Ontario, where he plays flamenco guitar and paints.
