This short piece of flash fiction was inspired by one of the opening sentences from a competition that Chuck Wendig of recently put up. He's a great author by the way, and you should read everything he writes.

What happens when you try to out hustler a bigger hustler? Bad things can happen. But when the money is large, like $60k large, you're gonna get folks who think they can win it in a quick game of poker.

But the mob thinks otherwise. They might 'pretend' to let you take your winnings of sixty grand, but they might exact real revenge. This is the story of a good hustle gone bad, in just one night.

Length: 1,000 words exactly
