"My Journey: from Horses and Iceboxes to Aero Planes and Refrigeration is the story of one man’ life. Edward Gehweiler tells stories of about his small town childhood in the early 1900’s and the business that was owned and run by his extended family. He recounts the unexpected life that military service brought to everyday people during World War II. He chronicles his move back home and the struggle to find employment as the armed forces released an army into civilian life.
He tells stories about his work experiences, his friendships, and raising a family. In his own words, Edward tells of his “journey” through the twentieth century.

Edward Gehweiler was born and raisedin Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He entered the Army during WWII and served as a flightinstructor in the Army Air Corps. During the war he married Doris Schmidt also fromChippewa Falls. After the war, they returned to their hometown and eventually moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Ed worked as an engineer and they raised a family of 6 children. Edward often tellsstories about his life experiences to friends and family and severalpeople suggested that he write a book of his stories. My Journey is hisfi rst book. He and his wife of 66 years currently live in Cedarburg,Wisconsin where they are surrounded by children, grandchildren andgreat-grandchildren.
