And the attraction between Eve and Roarke? Totally not buying it. She's a scruffy cop, he's an elegant and sophisticated man. The instant sexual attraction between them is inexplicable, really, and the love that develops makes no sense.

Synopsis

In a world of danger and deception, she walks the line--between seductive passion and scandalous murder...

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she's seen it all--and knows her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire--and a suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about--except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

Strangely having read the first book there is a little part of me that would be interested to see where things go from here, since if nothing else I’m kind of a sucker for endless series of procedurals.

The series, starting with NAKED IN DEATH, is instantly likable, readable and full of enough action to satisfy all but the most intellectual of readers.

Nora Roberts - with truly, very few words - has crafted an intense story, and created two strong, sympathetic, highly readable lovers.

Reading Roberts/Robb’s In Death books is a bit like watching an episode of “Castle,” if Castle was a bazillionare businessman instead of a crime writer.

I would not recommend this book to anybody…in fact I found the whole story to be an insult to my intelligence and I’m amazed that some people did actually enjoyed it.

Ms. Robb really kept the suspense up with enough red herrings tossed out to keep me riveted to the very end.

Roberts will have you cheering for these two not only to figure out who the killer is but also for their somewhat fast blooming romance.

I highly recommend that if you enjoy romance, mystery, strong characters, and a vivid world that you give the In Death series a try. Make sure you start with Naked In Death so you don’t miss anything. In fact I think since I have just re-read this one I need to start re-reading the series again *grin*.

The mystery in Naked in Death is solid and kept me guessing from beginning to end. It certainly had its more disturbing elements, so this book isn’t for those who shy away from the darker parts of life.

The mystery itself was predictable. I knew early on who was the murderer, and it fell in to conventional steps. That said, Naked in Death was certainly a fun read and I can see the appeal.

As with all Nora Roberts novels I’ve read, it was well written and engrossing enough to read in one sitting and I liked the twist at the end. I like being partially right about something but then being surprised about something else.

There are many crazy fans of this series, and their madness is completely justifiable. I’ve only read one book and I’m already there. Now, if I can fit in one book per month, and taking into account that JD Robb writes 2 books per year, I should be caught up with this series in about…*sigh* 2014. But you know what, totally worth it.

As promised, Roarke is incredible. Even better is his and Eve’s instant attraction and coupling. This is, obviously, one of the reasons Robb’s series is so beloved.

Unfortunately I think Eve caved into his whims way too early in Naked in Death for me. I figured who the killer was right away, sort of. I had the motives all wrong. It surprised me about the original murder and the plot, but it takes all kinds of sick people out there.

It was a total steal for just $2 each for the first eight books. Now if I fall in love with this series, I just may have to entertain the fact that I will be getting the rest of the books from the library because this series is at book 38 and the ebook price tag is pricey. So far, I am impressed with book 1.
