The squirrelpocalypse is an academy in the woods.

Intern Colby arrived at McWikken Academy thinking he'd finally made it. After one year of work under the famous Nurse Dash he could have his chance to start resurrecting some extinct species. He didn't realize that work in an underground laboratory came with a long list of things he hadn't expected to do – like injecting an unaware student with purple stuff to make him hairier and stronger, monitoring more of the student guinea pig population with walkie talkies, and running through the woods with a tranquilizer gun after a partially human robot who "got loose and knows too much."

Chasing Lars the robot leads Colby to Regan Krieger. Part-Nancy Drew, part-Snake Plissken, Regan is looking for her best friend when she smacks into Colby and gets a small taste of what's really going on at McWikken Academy behind the scenes. As more of her friends disappear and return unable to speak, or with saber teeth and a hunger for rabbits, Regan goes deeper and deeper to find the answers that could save her friends and fellow students from going to art history class one morning and ending up bleeding on a path by lunch.

McWikken Academy: the boarding high school for despondent students abandoned to experimentation and underemployed former grad students who like animals. It’s in the middle of nowhere and tuition and board are free (with minor concessions)! Apply now and try to escape later!
