“Bercovich suggested I contact you. He is an old friend. He says you can solve my problem.”
“You told him your problem?”
“No, but I told him I was in trouble and I couldn’t go to the police.”
“So tell me about it?”
He chews, cleaning his teeth with his tongue, while he gets his head together.
“I have a son, two grandchildren and they have a mother. This is all of my family.”
“You worry for them?” I smile, raising an eyebrow.
He catches my eye. Steely blue grey glance, not a man given to light banter.
“I’m getting…” He pauses. “I’ve been diagnosed for four years now…”
