Synopsis

Operational amplifiers are very high gain integrated circuit amplifiers and can be employed for a great many applications. This book is a concise, readable introduction intended to teach students of electronics the design aspects of operational amplifiers, and their use and selection for particular circuit applications. Commencing with a description of the basic operational amplifier circuit, the text moves immediately to the industry standard 741 op-amp and explains its use as a voltage follower, noninverting amplifier, and inverting amplifier. Op-amp characteristics and parameters are next investigated, and the design of practical direct-coupled and capacitor-coupled circuits is demonstrated. The very important topic of op-amp frequency compensation is thoroughly explored. A wide variety of op-amp circuit applications are explained, analyzed, and designed. Solved examples, review questions, problems, and laboratory exercises are included to reinforce knowledge.
